Arlington Heights man accused in burglaries

A 41-year-old Arlington Heights man is being held on multiple counts of residential burglary after robbing multiple homes in the Terramere subdivision, police said.

In response to recent residential burglaries, officers from the Arlington Heights Police Department were conducting extra patrols in the area of the Terramere subdivision near Nichols Road on Nov. 17, officials said in a news release early Monday.

While on patrol, officers observed Jerry E. Dickens, 41, of the 2200 block of Nichols Road, drop an item on the ground and continue walking, the news release said.

Officers investigated the discarded item, which turned out to be jewelry.

Officers spoke with Dickens moments later, who admitted to being involved in multiple residential burglaries in the area.

A subsequent search of his home yielded proceeds from the burglaries, officials said, some of which have been identified by burglary victims.

Dickens cooperated in the investigation, authorities said, and further investigation is ongoing to identify the owners of the remaining recovered property continues.

He was officially charged with two counts of residential burglary by the Arlington Heights Police, officials said. After his arrest, Cook County Sheriff officials also charged him with a count of residential burglary.

He is currently being held in Cook County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond, of which he must post 10 percent to be released, officials said.

Additional charges may be forthcoming, officials said.
