Business leader joins Career Resource Center
The Career Resource Center, Inc. (CRC) announced that Mary Beth Barrett-Newman, founder and president of 2nd Career Consulting, has joined its group of professional advisers who assist those seeking jobs.
“Having changed careers herself from financial services to career consulting, Mary Beth brings an in-depth understanding of the process that occurs,” said CRC Executive Director Jan Leahy. “Her expertise in this area is a huge asset for our clients who are making a career transition and need guidance.”
Barrett-Newman joins a dedicated group of accomplished advisers who have varied backgrounds and a commitment to helping those seeking jobs.
CRC advisers average 25 years of management experience with companies of all sizes in a variety of industries, including outplacement agencies and executive search firms.
Barrett-Newman will focus on the unique needs of each client she works with at CRC. Her expertise includes guiding people who know what career they want to pursue, as well as guiding people who are exploring their options. She can assist clients with all phases of the process, from exploring options, writing resumes, honing interview skills, and teaching how to network and use social media effectively.
Career Resource Center is a nonprofit, career transition center that serves approximately 1,000 job seekers from throughout Metropolitan Chicago each year.
For a modest fee, client services include confidential advisory sessions, educational programs and workshops, networking sessions, interview practice, a computer lab with Internet access, and use of office equipment and extensive reference materials.
