Wolves’ winning streak ends; Express wins

The Chicago Wolves’ four-game winning streak ended Saturday night in a 4-3 decision to the San Antonio Rampage before 10,913 at the Allstate Arena.

The Rampage scored 3 first-period goals and held on for the victory.

Darren Haydar and Anton Rodin each delivered a goal and an assist for the Wolves (7-6-0-2), who played their first home game in three weeks. Mike Duco posted the Wolves’ other goal. Goaltender Eddie Lack (2-4-2) rallied after a slow start to finish with 22 saves.

“They took advantage of their opportunities in the first period and we didn’t,” Wolves coach Craig MacTavish said. “We battled back and gave ourselves a chance to win, but we fell a little short.”

Mark Cullen, Bill Thomas, Wacey Rabbit and Greg Rallo scored goals for the Rampage (7-9-0-0), while Brian Foster registered 31 saves.

The Wolves next game is Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Texas. Their next home game is an Illinois Lottery Cup contest against Peoria at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Express 2, Cyclones 1:Even after hitting the goal post four times, the Chicago Express still earned a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.Goalie Allen York stopped 39 shots in his Express debut. Darcy Campbell and Blair Riley scored for the Express.
