Palatine man charged with felony DUI
A 32-year-old Palatine man has been charged with felony drunken driving after Arlington Heights police arrested him early Saturday morning.
Baltazar Cruz-Navarette was eastbound on Palatine Road approaching Rand Road at about 5 a.m. Saturday when an Arlington Heights police officer patrolling the area noticed him driving erratically, according to court records.
The officer stopped Cruz-navarette, administered field sobriety tests and took him into custody when he failed some of the tests. At the police station, a breath test showed he had a blood-alcohol content of .093 percent, Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Katherine Levine said during a bond hearing Saturday in Rolling Meadows. The legal limit to operate a motor vehicle is .08 percent.
Levine added that Saturday’s arrest was Cruz-Navarette’s third for drunken driving since 2003.
Cruz-Navarette’s bail amount was set at $30,000. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 6.
