North Aurora woman to run for Kane court clerk
Karin Herwick, a North Aurora resident and chief deputy circuit clerk, announced Friday that she's running for the Republican nomination for Kane County Circuit Court Clerk.
Deb Seyller is not seeking another four-year term as circuit court clerk in November 2012.
Herwick touted her more than 20 years of experience at the circuit clerk's office, saying she knows the clerk's state mandated duties and has administrative experience in several divisions within the office.
“A well-intentioned but misguided improvement in the circuit clerk's office could disrupt the entire judicial and public safety system and be disastrous for the public users. That is why it is imperative to have someone who has experience at the helm,” she said in a statement announcing her election bid.
Cathy Hurlbut, a Kane County Board member since 1994 and Elgin attorney, also announced in September that she's seeking the GOP nomination.
If both follow through, a primary will be held in March to see who will be the Republican choice next November.
Herwick is a lifelong Kane County resident and earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Aurora University.
