Man killed in woodchipper accident
BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Federal workplace safety officials are investigating the death of a man killed when he was accidentally pulled into a wood chipper in southwestern Illinois.
Authorities did not immediately release the name of the man killed Friday morning in Belleville.
Investigators say the victim was working with a tree-trimming service crew on private property when his clothing got caught on a limb being fed into the wood chipper. That caused the victim to be pulled into the machine.
The company for which the man worked also was not disclosed.
