Your help needed for Between Friends holiday food drive

Between Friends Food Pantry, 52 Wheeler Road in Sugar Grove, will hold a Holiday Food Drive and Fundraiser.

To help 70 Kaneland area families this holiday season, donate $30 per meal or the following food items: turkeys and hams; potatoes, stuffing, rice or gravy; and canned green beans, corn, pumpkin or cranberries. Also, if you are not using your Jewel Game Tickets, the food pantry is playing and hopes to be a winner.

Cash donations are welcome; make checks to: Between Friends Food Pantry, and send to Mari Johnson, 1916 Annettes Circle, Sugar Grove, IL 60554.

Drop-off sites for nonperishable foods in Sugar Grove include: Sugar Grove Public Library, Sugar Grove Village Hall, Castle Bank, Old Second Bank, Advanced Realty Consultants, Remax, and Green Acres Dry Cleaners. Or call (630) 991-3138 to arrange a pickup. Volunteers also are needed.

The pantry has more than 67 families that need a Thanksgiving meal this year, significantly up from last year.

In addition, watch for deals on turkeys, hams or other meats around the Thanksgiving holiday, as purchases of these items now also can be used for the Christmas and New Year dinners.
