Veterans should get jobs first

President Obama has proposed new tax credits for businesses to encourage the hiring of our veterans. There should be no need for monetary incentives to hire our veterans; they should be the first considered for job openings.

Our servicemen/women don’t ask for handouts; they simply want to rejoin society and provide for their families. We owe them that and should be honored to have a veteran on our company payroll.

It is a very sad statement of American values when our military, who have sacrificed in many ways, are not treated as the heroes they are. Shame on our business sector for needing to be prodded by the waving of a cash carrot.
