Nursing home worker accused of withholding meds

EDWARDSVILLE — A man was sentenced to 60 days in jail and two years of probation for his role in a southwestern Illinois motorcycle crash that killed two people more than two years ago.

Thirty-four-year-old Daniel Mull of Mitchell was sentenced Tuesday in Madison County, where he pleaded guilty in April to a reckless homicide charge.

The October 2009 crash killed 42-year-old fellow motorcyclist William Guffey of O’Fallon and a passenger on Mull’s motorcycle, 41-year-old Lisa Caradonna of St. Charles, Mo.

Authorities say the Mull and Guffey were operating motorcycles on U.S. 40 near Highland and following a pickup truck when they tried to pass that vehicle as it slowed to make a left turn. The motorcycles hit that vehicle.

Prosecutors dropped a charge of aggravated driving under the influence.
