Scouting report: The Mustangs received their baptism into varsity basketball under fire last season. Now they return a year older, wiser and stronger. Walker, who averaged 9 points a game and hit 41 3-pointers a year ago, is a pure shooter who has worked to expand her offensive repertoire. She makes for a good combo with Geldernick, who is capable of driving to the rim or taking the 3. Obendorf and Petersen, who combined for almost 17 points and 15 rebounds a game, provide size inside. Kalivas is hopeful they can finish near the basket better than a year ago. Metea lost two members of its rotation to club soccer. It's still reasonable to project a step forward. "Everything that we have implemented looks better this year," Kalivas said.
