Hanover Park police welcome Paraguayan delegation
On Oct. 27, the Hanover Park Police Department hosted a delegation of the Paraguayan National Police.
The Paraguayan National Police delegation had attended the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference, which was held this year at McCormick Place in Chicago, Oct. 21-26.
Hanover Park Police Chief David Webb was contacted prior to the IACP Conference by Matt Langhenry, a project manager for the U.S. Department of Justice and works out of the U.S. Embassy in Paraguay. Langhenry is assigned through the Department of Justice to work with the Paraguayan National Police to assist them in transitioning to procedures utilized by police departments in the United States.
The Paraguayan delegation arrived in Hanover Park at 10 a.m. and were greeted by Mayor Rod Craig, Village Manager Ron Moser, Village Clerk Eira Corral, Webb and his police department command staff.
The delegation spoke with the command staff on common law enforcement issues, community policing guided by intelligence and toured the new police headquarters due to open in 2012.
“Though we are from different countries, many of our issues in law enforcement are the same,” Webb said. “It was a pleasure having the delegation as a guest of Hanover Park .”
