Monday is Wisconsin snowplow driver appreciation day
MADISON, Wis. — With winter fast approaching, Monday has been set aside as a day to recognize snow plow drivers in Wisconsin.
Gov. Scott Walker declared it as snowplow driver appreciation day.
The proclamation notes that snowplow drivers help keep the roads safe for drivers and ensure that commerce can still be conducted. The governor also encouraged people to use caution when they approach a snowplow.
The state Department of Transportation issued a number of safety tips for winter weather driving, including calling 511 or checking online to see current conditions. They also stressed driving slow, staying at least 200 feet behind a working snowplow and never driving drunk.
