Man recovers dog tag of brother killed in Vietnam

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — A southern Indiana man has recovered the dog tags worn by his brother before he was killed in Vietnam 43 years ago.

The News and Tribune reports that Larry Davis of New Albany has fought for years to secure medals earned by his younger brother, Randy Davis, a U.S. Marine machine-gunner who was killed by an enemy mortar round at age 18.

Family members put Larry Davis in touch with Tours of Peace Vietnam Veterans, a nonprofit organization that locates dog tags of American soldiers killed in Vietnam and returns them to their families.

After Larry Davis proved he was Randy Davis’ brother, the organization shipped him his brother’s dog tag.
