LINCOLNSHIRE — Laura Zimmerman has joined Aon Hewitt as senior vice president and global marketing leader, the company announced.

In this newly created role, Zimmerman is responsible for leading Aon Hewitt’s global marketing strategy and bringing integrated solutions to market around health, retirement and talent, with a connection to risk.  Zimmerman reports to Dave Hill, global chief commercial officer of Aon Hewitt, and serves on the Aon Hewitt executive committee.

In addition, she joins Aon’s global marketing executive team, which has been a driving force in Aon’s success, including the successful execution of the global partnership and shirt sponsorship with Manchester United.  Zimmerman also has a functional reporting role to Aon’s global marketing and chief communications officer.

“Laura brings the ideal combination of strategy and creativity to the role of global marketing leader,” said Hill.  “She understands that everything begins with the client, and she has demonstrated the ability to translate client need into a comprehensive strategy with positive results.  Laura has an impressive track record of building marketing capabilities at three different organizations, and we look forward to her working with Aon Hewitt colleagues worldwide to drive a marketing strategy that will benefit our clients, prospects and Aon.”

Prior to joining Aon Hewitt, Zimmerman served as head of Marketing and Product at Legg Mason Global Asset Management where she oversaw the development and execution of marketing strategy, and investment and retirement solutions.  Zimmerman also was a member of the Americas Distribution Senior Leadership Team.

Before that, she was an officer with Allstate Insurance where she led the Strategy and Business Development practice for Allstate Financial, a division of Allstate that provides financial protection and retirement savings products. During her 13-year Allstate career, Zimmerman guided the company’s transformation from a traditional life insurance business to a broader personal financial services company.  Under her leadership, Allstate established its proprietary financial services business and entered the workplace voluntary benefits business.

“Aon Hewitt is a very client-focused organization with a proven commitment to innovation in health, retirement and talent solutions,” said Zimmerman.  “We have a great opportunity to build on this foundation from a marketing perspective, with the right connections to risk, and create holistic global programs that advance the industry-leading work we do every day on behalf of our clients and their employees.”

Zimmerman earned an MBA degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College.  She serves on the board of directors for the North Shore United Way and Mental Health America of Illinois.  She is a member of the Business Marketing Association and Retirement Income Industry Association.
