Deer Park made right choice on police
I have been a resident of Deer Park for 13 years. I attended the latest public meeting and while I have no problem with the Kildeer police department, it is my belief that the village board members not only acted in a fiscally responsible way but also took the entire village’s safety into consideration when making the difficult decision to terminate the police contract with Kildeer. I also believe that they were as transparent as they could be given the situation the circumstances. I would like to commend President Robert Kellerman for his consistent treatment of all residents and that outbursts from the audience are always handled respectfully.
I find the actions of Deer Park Neighbors and the founders tantamount to a bullying campaign.
I do not like any person, especially a police officer, who protects and serves his/her villages to the best of their ability to lose their jobs. However, if the Village of Kildeer was in fact not doing their job, then I feel the Village of Deer Park acted with due diligence.
I have used this example, if you go to a store and purchase $100 worth of merchandise but are only receiving $25 worth, would you continue to use that establishment? The officers in Kildeer are not at fault but unfortunately when any business fails, it is the employees who feel the repercussions. I would also like to say that I thought the Lake County Sheriff did an excellent job at presenting their plan for safety in this village at the public meeting.
I truly hope that the Lake County Board does not table this issue because of the actions of Deer Park Neighbors, which is but a small part of the Village of Deer Park. Please show them that bullying will not be tolerated.
