Fall Harvest Market comes to Elgin

Submitted by Unitarian Universalist Church

On Sunday, Nov. 13, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Elgin will host its fifth annual Fall Harvest Market from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church, 39W830 Highland Ave., three miles west of Randall Road.

This indoor market is a combination winter farmers market and artisan fair. Farmers will be selling high quality, sustainably produced goods. Artists from the congregation will be selling their work.

Off-season winter farmers markets help sustain local farmers who are committed to sustainable agriculture. Consumers benefit by being able to choose wholesome natural food products which are produced locally. The farmers market is sponsored by Faith in Place, an interfaith environmental organization based in Chicago.

Anticipated products include seasonal produce, hearty breads, cheeses, beef, pork, poultry, French pastries, honey, wool, dried fruits, milled flours, pasta sauces, salsas, fruit preserves, cider, mushrooms, herbal infusions, beauty products, soaps, candles, fair trade coffees, teas and chocolates, and more.

The artisan fair offers artwork, including quilted art, hand-dyed scarves, copper jewelry created from real leaves, hand-knit cotton dish cloths, pottery, nature photo cards, decorations, and handmade holiday cards.
