Adopt this agenda to end whining
OWS protesters: Stop whining and make yourself useful!
Regarding unequal wealth. Life is not fair and if you worked harder and smarter, you could get a bigger share. Stop whining about the so called “rich” not paying their “fair share” of taxes. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the richest 20 percent of taxpayers pay 86 percent of the federal income tax burden — an all-time high.
Here is what you can do to make yourself useful: Demand that the banks start giving working people loans to buy houses and get this economy going again: Even though unemployment is at 9.1 percent it still means that nine out of every 10 Americans are working. Combine that with the lowest house prices in 15 years, and the housing market should be on fire.
We gave the banks money to save their butts. They responded by paying themselves and hoarding the rest.
Next, demand that Congress penalize stock traders who flip stocks daily for small percentage gains and cause the stock market to bounce around like a cork on a stormy sea. This destabilizes our economy.
Here is how: impose a 100 percent tax on the profit on any stock held for less than 7 days; 80 percent on profit on stocks held for less than 30 days, and so on.
Finally, don’t allow speculators to bid on oil and oil futures unless they, like the airlines and gasoline companies, have the ability to physically take possession of the oil. It is these speculators who because of a change in the law are relatively new to the game and do nothing but drive up prices for the rest of us.
There you have it. Start marching. I will meet you there.
