Elk Grove Lions receive Community Spirit Award
The Elk Grove Lions Club has served the community for 53 years through various activities and have received numerous recognitions over the years.
The Elk Grove Community Spirit Award has just been given to the Lions for the month of November. The award is given monthly to an individual, family or group that exemplifies commitment to community, random acts of kindness, demonstrations of helpfulness and compassion to others.
Although the Lions, as well as the International Lions organizations are known for work with the blind and hearing-impaired, the Lions Club has also made many contributions over the years to Elk Grove Village. Contributions include: Lions Park and its first swimming pool; senior buses; police mobile crime lab and mountain bikes; Sparky the robotic fireplug; DARE program support; as well as hearing aids and eye glasses for needy families; Fourth of July fireworks; and financial support to community organizations and individuals in need and much more.
