Two Judson runners qualify for nationals

Sarah Miller of Barrington and Nate Nevius of Fremont, Neb., have taken another major step for the Judson University cross country programs as they will run in the NAIA National Cross Country Championships on Nov. 19 in Vancouver, Wash. Both qualified as individuals at the CCAC Championships.

Miller will be the third women’s runner to participate at the NAIA National Meet from Judson since the program started in 2008. Rachael Dean (2009) and Kim Peek (2009) both qualified for the national meet in 2009.

Miller made the cut for the NAIA National Meet when Saint Xavier University was picked up as an at-large team. She finished 15th at the CCAC Championships in the 5K race with a time of 19:23.

Nevius will be making Judson’s first men’s appearance at the NAIA National Meet since 1994 and is the first runner to participate since the program was reinstated in 2008. Mike O’Brien was the last runner from Judson to participate in 1994 as an individual. Nevius received his bid to the meet at the CCAC Championships with a 15th place finish in the 8K (26:17). Nevius will be the seventh runner from Judson to run at the NAIA National Meet.
