Tips on Keeping Residential Driveways Clear

When clearing residential driveways of snow, here's the best way to assist the drivers plowing residential streets so that their work doesn't leave an already-cleared driveway full of snow again.

Shovel snow in the direction of traffic and try to make a pocket on the opposite side of the driveway (see illustration below.) That way, snow that has accumulated on the plow will dump into that pocket and not on the driveway.

By following these guidelines for clearing snow at the end of the driveway, it will reduce the possibility of street snow plows inadvertently making the driveway snow-bound again.
