Carmel presents ‘Hansel and Gretel’
Carmel Catholic High School’s Fine Arts Department presents its fall play, Hansel and Gretel.
This wonderfully entertaining version of the classic tale is guaranteed to delight young and adult audiences alike.
Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13. For tickets call the Ticket Hotline (847) 388-3450. Tickets are $5 for children and $8 for adults, and will be available at the door.
A few of the lead cast include: Seniors — Enza Lappo as the hilarious witch and Connor Higgins as Frick (witch’s hobgoblin). Juniors — Lilly Noonan as the Dew Princess and Ian Fleming as the Sandman, Landen Nickel as Frack (witch’s goblin). Sophomores — Erin Pauly as Gretel and Will Higgins as Hansel.
When Hansel and Gretel are sent into the woods they encounter some marvelous folk — an arrogant troll who fiercely guards his little wooden bridge, a talking owl, a forest sprite and two hobgoblins in the service of the nasty (and hilarious) witch. The Sand Crystals dance their way to assist the Sand Man to help the children sleep. Audiences are sure to tremble for Hansel as he’s locked in a cage and fed nothing but fudge and cake. Cheer on Gretel as she outwits the crone and sets free all the lost children who have been turned into cookies.
“All the moments from the classic tale are here, from the night spent in the woods to the discovery of the candy-coated little cottage, but the show is fresh and audiences of ALL ages will be entertained and transported on a magical and fun journey with great music and lots of laughs,” said Director Denise Sebastiano. “Our production will truly warm your heart and stir childhood memories. It’s a great way to start the holiday season.”
“Once again Carmel Catholic High School’s drama department under the direction of Denise Sebastiano will impress the audiences with this awesome musical. The entire cast brings this classic fairy tale to life with creative energy and incredible talent,” says Nancy Case, President, Carmel Catholic Council for the Arts.
