Elections board to discuss college ID requirements
MADISON, Wis. — The state board that oversees elections in Wisconsin plans to reverse course and rescind its previous advice that stickers with expiration dates could be used on college identification cards to meet requirements under a new voter identification law.
The Government Accountability Board in September said stickers would be OK, but lawmakers objected and colleges and universities said they were seeking other ways to comply with the law.
The board was slated to vote Wednesday on reversing its previous position that stickers would be acceptable.
The board was also expected to recommend that technical college IDs be an acceptable form of identification for voting. Current law does not allow them to be used for voting.
