Suburbia's got talent: State Street Dance Studio
Young dancers take the stage to perform "Pon de Floor," a modern, jazz-style dance, at the 2011 Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival, held every spring at Kaneland High School, Maple Park.
The dancers, ages 13-16, are part of State Street Dance Studio's junior performing company, and they perform at exhibitions all over the Fox Valley, according to Linda Lee Cunningham, founder and artistic director of the Geneva studio.
Dancers include: Sarah Atac, Alexis Gravenites, Michael Fitzgerald, Jenna Dalisay, Megan Zacher, Kate Sieber, and Madeline Rzeppa. They are from St. Charles, Batavia, Geneva, and West Chicago.
The dance was choreographed by Krista Paulson, instructor for the junior dance company.
State Street Dance is well-known in the Fox Valley for its production of "The Nutcracker," which will be held Dec. 17-18 at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles. The studio offers a variety of classes for dancers of all ages. For details, visit statestreetdancestudio.com.
