No bail for teen charged in triple murder

A Cook County judge has denied bail to a Chicago teenager charged as an adult in a shooting that left three dead, including a mother picking up a cake for her daughter's birthday party.

Nicko Grayson is charged in the murders of 21-year-old Chandra Thompson, the mother of a 2-year-old, Shawn Russell, and Cortez Champion, both also 21.

Grayson on Tuesday appeared before Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil, who scolded him when he turned away from the bench and muttered under his breath.

According to prosecutors, the victims were sitting in a car outside A Piece of Cake bakery about 5 p.m. Saturday, when a gunman from a nearby alley shot into the vehicle, then fled.
