Fox Valley Hospice offers creative way to remember loved one
For those who have lost a loved one, creative activities following the death loss can provide an outlet for expressing grief, enhancing memories, and offering a tribute to the loved one. As part of the grief journey, Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice is offering a new program, Memory Stone Workshop, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the hospice, 200 Whitfield Drive, Geneva.
The program is open to all community members and is free, but registration and a refundable deposit are required by Monday, Nov. 7.
In this workshop, participants will create a concrete memory stone, utilizing personal items and mementos.
They are asked to bring small items that represent the special qualities or interests of their loved one that will be set into the 8.5- by 5-inch stone, such as small laminated photos, jewelry, charms, game pieces, military medals, fishing lures, etc. Additional embellishments will be provided.
The program will also include a time for sharing special memories and a candlelight ritual.
