Relay for Life can change yours
Want to make a difference in the fight against cancer? Join us as we plan the 2012 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Palatine, Rolling Meadows, and Inverness. This is a life changing experience!
Like many others in our community, I have several family members and friends who have been affected by cancer. I always think about them during the Luminaria ceremony, a ceremony at Relay to honor those who are cancer survivors and remember those who have lost their fight. In these thoughts, I always come to the conclusion that I cannot save lives and create a world with more birthdays alone.
For our 2011 Relay For Life of Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Inverness we raised over $215,000. Those funds are used to support free programs such as rides to treatments through our Road to Recovery program, wigs and our Look Good ... Feel Better program. Donations raised at our community events go to help cancer patients and their families within our local communities.
The planning committee will meet on Nov. 9 at Palatine City Hall, Room C, 200 E. Wood Street, in Palatine. We need individuals to help with areas such as food and entertainment, logistics, team recruitment, survivor and caregiver activities and more. Please join us at the meeting to learn how you can make a lifesaving difference, meet some new friends and have lots of fun.
Together our time, talents and enthusiasm will help make this upcoming year’s event a success.
