Maine West students show character
Maine West High School has the finest community spirit of any school in our country. Maine West students have looked out for our Des Plaines community and their own students and the way they behave demonstrates their collective character and heart.
Our Maine West students raised $6,000 in the first minute of a fundraiser for Maine West Cheerleader Stephanie Valesecu, who has a severe case of brain cancer, and her family. Yes, the first minute. God only knows how much they will raise to help their friend once their effort really gets traction.
All three of my kids Erin, Justin, and Kevin graduated from Maine West and they all benefitted greatly from the values that were driven home at Maine West. We are proud of our kids, and even prouder of the Warrior Spirit they gathered from their years at Maine West. Not long ago the Maine West Warriors formed a human chain for a full mile from Maine West to deliver truckloads of food to our local food pantry. Dr. Audrey Haugen MW Principal and her students are making a difference in a very human way. It’s not all about test scores. It is all about character and caring.
God bless Audrey and all of these fine students that put others first and themselves last. Please keep up your outstanding work. I cannot think of another high school in America that can hoist this badge of honor and selfless dedication.
