Bad decisions on privatizing

I have lived in Rolling Meadows for over 30 years. Every winter when I have friends visiting me, especially after a good snowfall, they comment on how clear the streets in Rolling Meadows are to drive on. In the summer how the streets are clean.

I just read again in the Daily Herald about how the city wants to privatize the pickup. They need to save money for the residents. Going back a few years, the residents were told that if we build the transfer station, this will save time and money. Garbage trucks will not have to travel far to dump their loads and charge other cities to do the same.

Well, in a previous article in the Daily Herald, it read that the city had rented out the transfer station to a company to dump garbage. Money for the city, but wait — the city were the transfer station is located (Rolling Meadows) cannot dump their own garbage. We have to drive one hour to Skokie to dump the garbage. What a waste of time and fuel for the city.

The big question is who came up with this idea and the most important question is who approved this idea?
