Milwaukee driver strikes 2 pedestrians, killing one

MILWAUKEE — Police say a three-time drunken driver with a revoked license has been arrested after hitting two pedestrians on Milwaukee's south side, killing one and critically injuring the other.

Officers say they saw a pickup truck driving erratically at a high rate of speed Sunday shortly after 9 p.m. and tried to pull it over. That's when the truck struck two people. One was pronounced dead at the scene. The other suffered critical injuries.

Police say the suspect then crashed the pickup several blocks away and jumped in a river. Officers pulled the 41-year-old man from the river and arrested him. Police are investigating whether he had been drinking.
