Long Grove collects old fire protection devices

The Village of Long Grove, in cooperation with the Long Grove Fire Protection District, will host its first collection of fire extinguishers and detectors during the week of Nov. 7-11.

Area residents are invited to drop off their old fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the fire station, located at 1165 Old McHenry Road in downtown Long Grove. Collection crates will be placed outside the rear of the fire station with signage to direct contributors.

As people replace our detector batteries at the end of Daylight Saving Time, this is a perfect opportunity to assess the functionality of our home life-safety equipment. All area residents are invited to participate.
