FBI, police hunt for Arlington Heights bank robber
Arlington Heights police and officials with the FBI are searching for a man who robbed a TCF Bank in Arlington Heights Saturday night.
Cynthia Yates, a spokeswoman with the FBI, said the white male wearing a blue baseball cap walked up to a teller inside the Jewel-Osco Food Store at 440 E. Rand Road and announced the robbery.
Arlington Heights police said the suspect placed a paper bag on the bank counter, told a female teller he had a gun and demanded money. The teller filled the bag with about $4,000 and the man then fled the store in an unknown direction.
The man was further described as being in his 40s, weighing about 180 pounds, stood about 5-feet, 10-inches tall, and was wearing dark brown sunglasses and a long-sleeved gray shirt. He spoke with an Eastern European accent, according to police reports.
“Agents are unsure at this time if this is a single robbery by this person, or if he has committed other robberies,” Yates said.
The holdup remains under investigation, she said.
