If you have an aching back, certified yoga teacher Pamela O’Brien will present a workshop, “Sweet Relief: Back Care Yoga” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at the LivingWell Cancer Center, 1803 W. State St. in Geneva.
“After my own 20-year journey with back issues,” O’Brien said, “I developed my own therapeutic practice that addresses ways to safely open, strengthen and relax the back. It is also my passion to help others transform anxiety, depression, chronic pain and trauma into the fuel for a richer, healthier, more balanced life.”
O’Brien also has recently released a back care yoga DVD and will share this deeply therapeutic practice for both prevention and relief of back issues.
O’Brien has been sharing her love of yoga and meditation for 17 years, as both student and teacher. Although educated and certified by the Himalayan International Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy, through respected and internationally renowned teachers, Sandra Anderson and Rolf Sovik PsyD., she also blends what she has learned through her personal practice, both on and off the yoga mat. Her teaching is highly influenced and infused by other disciplines and teachers such as Thich Nhat Hanh, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Eckhardt Tolle, Pema Chodron and Dr. Andrew Weil.
