New US 141 bridge over Menominee River set to open
CRYSTAL FALLS, Mich. — A new bridge on U.S. 141 between Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin is scheduled to open Nov. 11.
Construction crews continue to complete work on the bridge over the Menominee River. The highway enters Wisconsin at Niagara.
The Daily News in Iron Mountain, Mich., says the bridge is a joint effort of the Michigan and Wisconsin transportation departments.
The bridge has three piers and 140-foot spans. It will be known as the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Demolition work began Jan. 10 on the old bridge, built 82 years ago.
