Prospect Hts. opens City Hall on Fridays
After two years, Friday will be just another work day at Prospect Heights City Hall.
Mayor Nick Helmer confirmed Wednesday that the city offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday starting Nov. 4.
The city has ended furlough days for most city employees, and they will be completely gone in January, said Helmer.
In 2009, the city instituted the furlough days and closed the city hall on Fridays because of decreased income attributed to the economy. Revenue sources that had dropped included state income taxes, and sales and utility taxes.
Every line item that produces income for the city is up this year, said Helmer.
