Man indicted over gun used to kill Ind. officer

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A federal grand jury has indicted a man on charges he illegally owned the handgun that was later used to fatally shoot a Terre Haute police officer.

Authorities say 48-year-old Brad Keller of Terre Haute was arrested this week on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The indictment charges that Keller in June possessed the gun that that was later obtained by the man who is charged with then selling it to Shaun Seeley. Police say Seeley used it on July 11 to shoot Officer Brent Long before killing himself.

U.S. Attorney Joseph Hogsett tells the Tribune-Star that it is important for all those who contributed to the chain of events be held accountable.

A not guilty plea has been entered for Keller.
