Human skulls, bones found in Brown County
HOWARD, Wis.— Construction workers have found what appear to be human remains in Brown County.
Sheriff's officials say human skulls and bone fragments were found six to eight feet underground at the site of the former Black Forest restaurant in Howard. That's where workers are building Vandervest Harley-Davidson.
Investigators believe the remains are from an old farmstead that was previously on the site. The farmstead's buildings were torn down in 1993 and the site was vacant until the restaurant was built in 2005.
Sheriff's officials tell WLUK-TV the owner of the property will be responsible for contacting the Wisconsin Historical Society to hire an archaeologist to process the rest of the scene.
