Buffalo Grove teen denies pot, drug charges
A Buffalo Grove teen pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Lake County Circuit Court to possession of the amphetamines and marijuana police say they found in his house.
Daniel Pierce, 19, faces up to three years in prison if convicted of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. He would also be eligible for probation.
Assistant State’s Attorney Ken LaRue said agents of the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group served a search warrant on Pierce’s residence in the first block of Marquette Place on March 21.
LaRue said police found a little less than an ounce of marijuana, scales, packaging materials and a large industrial fan with charcoal filters inside the residence.
LaRue said the fan could have been used to mask the smell of marijuana growing, but Pierce denied he grew or sold marijuana when questioned by police.
The officers also found six amphetamine pills and confiscated $570 in cash from the residence.
Associate Judge George Bridges scheduled a trial of the case for Feb. 6. He ordered Pierce, who was freed after posting $1,000 for bond, to appear in court Dec. 1
