Tollway redoes invalid vote

For the second time in a week, the Illinois tollway board approved a preliminary $973 million budget Monday. Board members re-enacted a Thursday meeting that turned out to be null and void because Gov. Pat Quinn’s office failed to file the required documents certifying the appointment of five new directors. The governor replaced four Illinois State Toll Highway Authority board directors Oct. 24, including Bill Morris of Grayslake, who voted against a significant toll increase, and Naperville Mayor George Pradel. The redo of last week’s session was advised by tollway attorneys to ensure the board’s actions were valid and adhered to state law, officials said.
