CMS bring Mozart and Dvorak masterworks to concert stage
Chicago Master Singers will open its season with two large masterworks that were among the composers’ own favorites — Mozart’s glorious and powerful Coronation Mass and Dvorak’s hauntingly beautiful Stabat Mater. The concerts are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, in the Divine Word Chapel in Techny.
The 130-voice chorus under the direction of maestro Alan Heatherington will join forces with the acclaimed Ars Viva Orchestra and soloists Michelle Areyzaga (soprano), Sarah Holman (mezzo-soprano), Peder Reiff (tenor) and Gerard Sundberg (bass-baritone). A free preconcert lecture will be offered by music critic Dorothy Andries one hour before each performance.
The Divine Word Chapel is at 2001 Waukegan Road, just north of Willow Road, in Techny. Techny is between Northbrook and Glenview.
