‘Smarter’ ComEd bills are coming

‘Smarter’ ComEd bills are coming

I must admit that I was not pleased that the Illinois legislature gave ComEd its rate hike over the governor’s veto. It seemed to me that our rates for electricity were already high enough.

After reading your Oct. 27 article, however, I see how shortsighted I was. According to ComEd, customers will see rate increases of $36 per year on average but, and this is the important part, savings created by the smart meters will more than offset the higher cost.

I guess this means we can all expect to receive smaller bills from ComEd in the coming years. Thanks to all those courageous legislators who have voted to save us money by increasing our rates.

Yes, George Orwell, doublethink (and doublespeak) are alive and well in Illinois.
