Find ways to reward the generous
Greed, in our world culture, affects and infects us both passively and actively. Greed is the primary cause of war, abortion, murder motivated by prejudice, and it is essentially atheistic. We cannot afford to act as if there is no God and that we are not all created equal. We cannot afford to be greedy.
When 10 percent possess 90 percent of the wealth and a large percentage are overwhelmed by growing poverty, it is cruel and inhuman to think that greed is good. Greed is criminal and mocks justice.
The computer and robotic automation has eliminated much drudgery, but greed, controlling greed, will continue to eliminate jobs in new industries with new technologies. And yet, those who have jobs are now asked to work more hours per week for less pay and to postpone retirement. The elderly, often with gleeful greed rather than out of necessity, occupy jobs at the expense of the young and diminish their own Social Security and eliminate it for the young.
It is time for religious and political thinkers, philosophers, sociologists and economists to innovate ways to reward the generous. Start by reducing the workweek and work year so we will have time and money to pursue our higher callings in music, dance, art, literature and the inspired drama of poetic justice! Reduce the interest rate to 4 percent and extend mortgage loans to an additional 40 years.
Justice is not a handout. It is both the divine foundation and crowning achievement of peace, wealth and happiness for everyone. When the poor become rich, the rich become richer. It is pure poetry! Blessed are the rich. They can share with the poor so the poor can pay their fair share of the taxes.
