Darren Haydar nets pair to pace Chicago Wolves
Darren Haydar scored twice and goaltender Eddie Lack turned aside 33 shots as the Chicago Wolves defeated the Texas Stars 2-1 Saturday night at the Allstate Arena.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak and marked the Wolves’ second home win of the season.
“We needed a win and we needed something good to happen,” said Wolves coach Craig MacTavish. “The guys battled hard and we hope that this will start to turn things around.”
The Wolves (3-4-0-2) scored first at the 19:13 mark in the second period. Bill Sweatt and Haydar had a 2-on-1 break, and Haydar snapped a pass past Stars goalie Tyler Beskorowany.
Haydar bagged his second at 15:21 of the third period when he flicked a shot from the far circle over the shoulder of Beskorowany (20 saves).
Tomas Vincour scored for Texas (3-5-0-0).
The Wolves kick off a five-game road trip with an Illinois Lottery Cup game against the Peoria Rivermen at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Carver Arena.
