Milwaukee Admirals knock off Chicago Wolves
The Chicago Wolves scored first, but the Milwaukee Admirals responded with a pair of goals to earn a 2-1 victory in an Amtrak Rivalry contest Friday night at the Allstate Arena.
“Our performance was OK tonight and we did a lot of things well tonight,” said Wolves coach Craig MacTavish. “We are showing progress, but we haven’t manifested it into wins.”
The Wolves (2-4-0-2) struck first at 9:38 of the second period. Darren Haydar held the puck below the goal line and slid a pass through the crease to Nathan Longpre, who hammered a one-timer past Admirals goaltender Jeremy Smith for his first professional goal.
The Admirals (5-0-0-1) tied the score at 1-1 with 1:55 remaining in the second period when Juuso Puustinen beat goalie Matt Climie on a breakaway. Climie finished with 37 saves.
The Admirals’ Ryan Thang netted the game-winning goal at the 13:33 mark on a Wolves misplay.
The Wolves host the Texas Stars Saturday at 7 p.m.
