Teens arrested after shots fired at N. Ind. mall
MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Police evacuated several homes near a northern Indiana shopping mall after shots were fired in the parking lot.
Police say officers were called to University Park Mall in Mishawaka (mish-ah-WAH’-kuh) Thursday night on a report that three shots had been fired outside the Macy’s store. Three young men were seen running from the area and officers used police dogs to help eventually find the three, ages 16, 18 and 19.
No injuries were reported.
Mishawaka police Lt. Tim Williams tells WSBT-TV that officers found the gun used in the shooting and the teens are in custody pending the filing of charges by the St. Joseph County prosecutor’s office.
Residents were allowed back into their homes in the city just east of South Bend following the arrests.
