Jailed man linked to W. Indiana motel shooting
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Police in Terre Haute have obtained an arrest warrant for a 28-year-old man who investigators believe shot a motel clerk during an attempted robbery.
Police say that Joseph Sims of Bloomington was jailed in Monroe County after he was arrested following an altercation Thursday in Ellettsville.
Terre Haute Assistant Police Chief Shawn Keen says investigators linked Sims to the Monday night motel shooting after tracking a vehicle registration found at the scene to a woman who said Sims had borrowed her van.
Keen says investigators have talked with the wounded 48-year-old man, who is recovering at an Indianapolis hospital.
Sims remained jailed Friday pending initial court hearings in both cases.
