SW Ind. towing business sues city of Vincennes

Associated Press

VINCENNES, Ind. The owner of a towing company who’s at odds with Vincennes officials over his business’ appearance is suing the southwestern Indiana city.

Troy Jones’ federal lawsuit claims Vincennes’ Board of Works violated his constitutional rights when it removed his company from its towing rotation schedule used to decide which towing service is dispatched.

The Vincennes Sun-Commercial reports Jones’ lawsuit claims the city violated his due process rights when Troy’s Towing was removed from its towing rotation schedule in January 2009.

City attorney Dave Miller says he’s surprised by the suit, which has been referred to Vincennes’ insurance carrier.

Jones has been at odds with Vincennes for several years over several junked cars visible on his property. His lawsuit claims his business is in compliance with all city ordinances.
