Suspect in South suburban slaying arrested in Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A man sought by police in connection with a slaying in South suburban Dolton has been arrested following a traffic stop in Cedar Rapids.

Albert Allen was driving a van stopped by Cedar Rapids police Tuesday afternoon. Police spokeswoman Sgt. Cristy Hamblin says police recognized Allen and knew there was a warrant for his arrest. The 26-year-old Allen has a criminal record in Linn County, including a 2010 drug conviction.

He remains in the Linn County. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.

Dolton police Sgt. Jim Knapp says the department there doesn’t have any information to release yet on the charges Allen faces there.

A Coralville man who was a passenger in the van was arrested on domestic abuse charges and a probation violation.
