Frost advisory overnight for some areas
Just two days after temperatures jumped into the 70s, the meteorologists expect a drop into the lower 30s overnight tonight.
The northeastern Illinois areas farthest from the lakefront and from heavily urbanized areas will be under a frost advisory from 1 a.m. Friday until 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The counties of McHenry, Lake, Kane, DeKalb and Kendall are included in the advisory.
Winds are expected to become very light, which will create the conditions needed for frost to form, according to meteorologists.
Sensitive plants may be damaged or killed if left unprotected.
Friday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-50s and a 20 percent chance of light rain in the afternoon. Friday night will see a drop in temperatures into the mid-30s.
