Teens hurt in chase after leaving Ind. youth home
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — State police say three teenagers who walked away from a western Indiana youth home were hurt in a crash after they carjacked a pickup truck.
Police say the three 17-year-old boys were reported missing Monday night from Gibault Children’s Services in Terre Haute. They are suspected of attacking a man in an attempted carjacking nearby then later beating another man in stealing his truck.
The truck hit a light pole and several vehicles at a car lot when a trooper tried to stop it minutes later
Police say the driver ran off but was caught a couple blocks away. Both passengers were taken to an Indianapolis hospital, one in critical condition with head injuries and the other with facial injuries.
The driver was jailed after being treated at a hospital.
