N. Indiana doctor sentenced for sexual battery
MONTICELLO, Ind. — A northern Indiana doctor has had his medical license suspended and been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to charges that he inappropriately touched a patient.
A White County judge on Monday also ordered that 39-year-old Stephen Rogers serve 185 days on home detention and register as a sex offender for 10 years. The former doctor at Monticello (mahn-tuh-SEL’-oh) Medical Center pleaded guilty to a felony charge of sexual battery.
The Journal & Courier reports Rogers declined to speak during his sentencing hearing.
White County Prosecutor Bob Guy says a female patient complained to police in March about Rogers. She wore recording devices to her next appointment, during which Rogers made sexual advances toward her and pulled her onto his lap.
